Hey there! We're the team at R&D, and our passion is crafting cutting-edge hardware, software, and AI solutions.
Today, we want to take you behind the scenes of ComplexScan—a series of professional gear we designed for photogrammetric 3D scanning, 360-degree photography, and zipping through product shoots for catalogs.
For us, ComplexScan was the next big step after we created PhotoPizza. We set out to build an even more powerful system for pros, one that would make creating top-notch digital copies of any object a breeze.
In the world of professional photography, everything boils down to two key stages:
It’s simple: the better your initial photos, the less time and money you spend on post-production. When you're shooting at an industrial scale, the quality of your originals isn't just important—it's everything. It can make or break your budget.
With that in mind, our goal was clear: create a solution that makes retouching as painless as possible.
Our answer was a photo table with a transparent, rotating disc made of special tempered glass. This setup let us place lights exactly where we needed them, bathing objects in even light from all angles. The result? A huge drop in post-processing costs and a big leap in the quality of the final images.
We love a good challenge, so we asked ourselves: what if we could take the expensive, manual labor right out of the equation? What if we could automate the entire process, from setting up the studio to configuring the gear for each unique object?
The perfect opportunity came knocking. A company that imports high-end wines reached out to us. They needed a slick, efficient way to get photos for their website and print catalogs.
Photographing glass bottles is tricky. The biggest headache is getting the glare just right. Plus, with bottles of all shapes and sizes, you're constantly rearranging the set. And let's not forget the logistics—lugging bottles to a studio or setting up shoots in a warehouse is a pain.
This gave us a crystal-clear set of requirements for our new machine:
We packed all these solutions into the ComplexScan Box B1 model. Now, it takes just one minute from placing a bottle inside to seeing its photo pop up in the electronic catalog. How cool is that?
