ComplexScan

Hey there! We're the team at R&D, and our passion is crafting cutting-edge hardware, software, and AI solutions.

Today, we want to take you behind the scenes of ComplexScan—a series of professional gear we designed for photogrammetric 3D scanning, 360-degree photography, and zipping through product shoots for catalogs.

For us, ComplexScan was the next big step after we created PhotoPizza. We set out to build an even more powerful system for pros, one that would make creating top-notch digital copies of any object a breeze.

The Spark Behind ComplexScan

In the world of professional photography, everything boils down to two key stages:

  • The shoot itself
  • The editing and retouching that follows

It’s simple: the better your initial photos, the less time and money you spend on post-production. When you're shooting at an industrial scale, the quality of your originals isn't just important—it's everything. It can make or break your budget.

With that in mind, our goal was clear: create a solution that makes retouching as painless as possible.

So, what did we need to achieve this?

  • Getting rid of pesky shadows and glares.
  • Rock-solid, high-quality lighting that you can shape with different profiles.
  • A super-smooth and precise drive for any automated parts.
  • A sturdy and stable construction for the drive.
  • Making sure it plays nice with other studio gear.

Our answer was a photo table with a transparent, rotating disc made of special tempered glass. This setup let us place lights exactly where we needed them, bathing objects in even light from all angles. The result? A huge drop in post-processing costs and a big leap in the quality of the final images.
