PhotoPizza DIY
PhotoPizza DIY is an open-source 360-degree turntable designed for product photography, 3D scanning, and creating AI training datasets. The project includes blueprints, CNC files, firmware, and everything else you need to build your own.
Our goal was to create a highly affordable professional turntable solution without compromising on quality or functionality.
We designed it using parts available almost anywhere, like standard roller bearings. We experimented with various materials - from acrylic glass to PVC and plywood - to ensure that anyone could build a PhotoPizza of their own.
We integrated popular and accessible electronics, such as Arduino, ESP32, and NEMA 17 motors, to make the assembly as simple and cost-effective as possible.
We considered every detail during the design process, from minimizing noise levels to ensuring the high precision of the rotation axis.
PhotoPizza supports various rotation modes, controls professional cameras directly, and handles heavy loads with ease. It is stable, durable, and easy to transport between shooting locations. Plus, its modular design means any mechanical issues can be fixed in minutes.
You can control PhotoPizza via an IR remote, a web application, or its dedicated control unit.
Our heavy-duty model (D1200) boasts a 500 kg load capacity, allowing it to easily handle large, heavy objects like motorcycles. Check it out in action:
The Purpose
- 360-degree photography for e-commerce and other applications
- Automated 3D scanning with photogrammetry or handheld laser scanners
- Creation of AI training datasets
- And much more
Manufacturing & Support
While PhotoPizza is a DIY project at heart, we also maintained small-scale series production to support those who preferred a ready-made solution. We managed every stage of the process: from logistics and component sourcing to assembly, quality control, packaging, and shipping. We delivered these ready-to-use units to customers all over the world, from Japan to the USA.
The product may look simple, but like many simple things, it is built on a foundation of extensive background knowledge and engineering experience.
