BoothBot
An automated photography solution for e-commerce, tailored specifically for wine boutiques and restaurants.
The client came to us with a clear goal: they needed high-quality photos for their extensive catalog of premium wines and spirits. The catch? They wanted to do it fast, in-house, and without hiring professional photographers or renting a studio. The entire process had to be automated and simple enough for their office managers to operate directly from their warehouse.
The Challenge
Photographing glass bottles is notoriously difficult. You need to control reflections to define the shape without catching unwanted details of the environment - a task that typically requires professional light boxes and studio gear.
On top of that, wine labels often feature intricate designs that need to be captured perfectly. Since bottles come in various shapes and sizes, a static setup wouldn't work. The scene needed to be reconfigurable, with adjustable camera positions and lighting.
Crucially, consistency was key. Every shot needed identical ambient lighting and precise focus control to minimize lens distortion. We also had to pack all this functionality into a compact unit that could fit into a small office space.
The Solution
We designed BoothBot - a "magic box" automated studio that packs professional capabilities into a compact form factor:
- Light Matrix Panels: Allow for custom lighting schemas to suit different bottle types.
- Motorized Camera System: Automatically adjusts position for the perfect angle.
- Smart Control Unit: Enables users to save presets and control all scene settings with a couple of clicks.
- Modular Design: Split into two sections for flexibility and easy transport.
Automating creative work is always a tricky challenge, but that's exactly the kind of puzzle we love to solve.
